The Department of Engineering and Geology (InGeo) is composed of scientists belonging to the Engineering, Earth System, Mathematics, Chemical and Physical Sciences. It is organized in two sections: Engineering and Geology. Engineering is mostly focused on mechanical, hydraulic and energetic behaviour of structures and their safety, Biomedical Engineering. Geology studies Earth and Planetary systems, natural and anthropogenic hazards, materials, geo-resources and the environment.
One of the field of activity of Civil Engineering is the maintenance of existing construction and infrastructures, among these the Cultural Heritage (CH). The conservation of CH is one of the most challenging problems facing modern civilization involving aspects belonging to many different disciplines. Italy has 60-70% of the world’s cultural assets according to UNESCO’s estimates and hosts in Pescara this two-years Master’s Degree providing a proper background in the fundamental disciplines involved in the monitoring, safety evaluation, rehabilitation and restoration of the existing heritage.
The final Master dissertation as well the traineeship give to the students the opportunity to be involved in the national and international projects of InGeo on CH topics. This Master is designed to shape Engineers with multidisciplinary professional skills to manage the puzzling problems related to the maintenance, preservations and restorations of existing structures,
monuments and historic sites. These Engineers will be able to couple the requirements of a safety use of the CH with the respect of formal and historical identity.
A Bachelor Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Building Engineering/Architecture acknowledged by the Italian Government. A pre-enrolment procedure will evaluate the applicant’s career to assess the its compliance with the requirements of the Master’s Degree in Cultural Heritage (CH).
Abruzzo is a region located in central Italy that features a coastal-hillside and a mountainous part, hosting three national parks. This geo-morphological conformation makes Abruzzo a territory rich in history and culture, with historical villages, medieval castles, and majestic churches.
Courses are taught in English by professor from INGEO Department and highly qualified international Universities.
